-Back dis week in session, our Riddim mixes, presenting the Cuss Fix Riddim, debut release from the Upsetta Sound crew!
Based in Vermont (USA), and working close wid the famous Jakk Stereo Recording Studio in Jamaica, Upsetta Sound follow the tradition of soundsystem turned label.
Cuss Fix Riddim is a great work inspired and based, in the legendary Cuss Cuss riddim (1969) by Lloyd Robinson! A modern times version, featuring some roots dancehall tones, dubwise, and a sonority pretty characteristic of north-america production style, all enhanced by the 15 voices presented in dis one-riddim release.
Besides the 'stars' Admiral Tibet, Determine and Ras Iba, Cuss Fix riddim, follows also one of Upsetta Sound main philosophies, to promote and give professional opportunity to unknown talents from the local scene. And what a bunch of vocal talent uncovered here! Potenkle I, Zico, Greta Frost, Shalli...just some of the vocals to pay attention in the future!
Wid a strictly digital release, and lots of number 1 chart top spots (mainly from Admiral Tibet version If me Never Run),Dante Da Vinci,Dubbe, Eastcoast & Masin, Upsetta Sound head masters crew, promise plenty of fresh sounds and productions soon come!

-Original Roots open and close dis week's session, featuring also the weekly highlight to new releases, wid Kingston Sounds release, Jah Jah We Pray, praising Johnny Clarke authentic voice!
Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and thrilling voices from Jamaica, Johnny Clarke always surprised wid his vocal styles versatility, over his famous covers, lover rock tunes or, the dancehall favorites, Dread Rockers 'Flyers Rhythms'.
His first works for producers like Clancy Eccles, Rupie Edwards or Glen Brown, made Clarke one the rising local starts, considered by many as the first ever true singer in the dancehall scene, dominated by deejays.
In spite being well known in jamaican stages and soundsystem sessions, Johnny Clarke was to become a island top favorite, when he hooked up wid Bunny Striker Lee, precisely by the most creative moment from the originator of Flying Cymbal style.
When the classic tune None Shall Escape the Judgment, was transfered to King Tubby studio, missing the original vocal track from Earl Zero, Johnny Clarke, whom had recorded backing vocals for the tune, went into studio to record the main vocals, of a theme that was soon to become one the biggest soundsystem hits from the seventies!
Wid release scheduled for 20th April, Jah Jah We Pray, ghaters 16 songs produced by Bunny Lee, just a few of the many, that turned Clarke into Bunny Lee productions main singer!
Some classic covers, big romantic tunes, and the best Rockers Dread fashion style...we can find a little bit of it all, wid highlight to the roots and culture themes like Judge Not a Man, Stealing Stealing, Rastaman or the title track Jah Jah We Pray!
Somehow forgotten in the jamaican scene over the 80Ts, Clarke moved on to London in 1983, were he started several collaborations wid Mad Professor and Sly & Robbie. Keeping also is longtime connection wid King Tubby, and working for new names like Prince Jammy or Errol Thompson, he kept on paving the way to become one of the most respectful jamaican singers from all time!
Nowadays a stage monster and although he continues faithful in roots original music and rasta beliefs, Clarke studio heydays was definitely alongside Bunny Striker Lee, and Jah Jah We Pray is a remarkable proof of dat!
Another great compile work form British label Kingston Sounds, always presenting the golden seasons from the blessed Jamaican voices!
Blessings for all the feedback! In troubled times, one love is the only way, so keep coming on checking what the prophets have to say!
Hayah Love!
